What happens if it rains?

What precautions are you taking to keep everyone safe from COVID-19?

This event is rain or shine. We're hoping for the best weather but if nature has other plans, we'll have a large tent for outdoor events and will move some activities inside the mansion.

  1. You must be fully vaccinated to attend this event. That means you must have received your second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, or your Johnson & Johnson vaccine, no later than August 8th, 2021. We will be checking for proof of vaccination at admission. Please bring either your vaccination card or a clear photo of your proof of vaccination (your name and vaccination date(s) must be visible), as well as a photo ID, to the event.

  2. Most of the event will be outdoors so masks are not required. However, masks are strongly recommended, especially inside the Glen Foerd mansion. We will happily provide a disposable mask to anyone who requests one.

  3. Please note that these rules are subject to change as local advisories and mask mandates update!

What is the age group for the event?

This is an all-ages event, but is intended more for adults than children.

We welcome little changelings to come join us for the afternoon, but we do require that anyone under 18 be paired with a responsible guardian at all times. Otherwise they may get whisked away into the realm of the fae (or we may just ask them and their guardians to leave).

Everyone will have their ID checked at the bar prior to being served alcoholic beverages.

Will there be tickets for sale at the door?

Yes, we will have a limited number of tickets available at the door. Once we reach capacity we will have to turn people away so we strongly encourage purchasing tickets in advance.

Your website says you are “Cirque du Nuit,” but this event is a benefit for “Alterra Productions.” What’s up with that?

What is the purpose of this event?

What should I wear?

Is the event inside or outside?

What is immersive theater?

Will I have to participate in any way?

Do I have to watch the entire performance?

Do I have to be familiar with A Midsummer Night’s Dream to enjoy the event?

What can I win in the raffle? What can I bid on at the silent auction?

This is both a celebration of and a fundraiser for our rebranding from Cirque du Nuit to Alterra Productions. As our company has grown over the years we branched out from our original circus focus into all forms of entertainment - like the event you’re about to attend! To better represent the alternate worlds we create in our work, we’ve chosen the new name Alterra Productions. We are in the process of a complete rebrand that should be done very soon.

Our company is entirely community-funded. We do many of our events on commission, but performing for the public - which is something we really like to do - requires extra funding. Our goal for this gala is to both entertain you and raise money for Alterra Productions to continue doing what we do.

To get in the spirit of the event we encourage guests to dress with one or more of the following ideas in mind:

  • Art Nouveau

  • Faeries

  • Black-tie/formal dress

That said, we care much more about who you are than what you wear - so come in whatever is most comfortable to you, and we’ll love you all the same (Plus, Trove Costumes will be there with costume rentals in case you decide you want to get more into the spirit of things!)

The majority of the event will be outside. All of the performances will be outdoors, but the mansion will be open. Guests are welcome inside to use the restroom, check out the beautiful building, and refresh in the air conditioning. We strongly encourage all guests to wear a mask indoors to prevent possible exposure to COVID-19.

Immersive theater puts a fun, interactive twist on traditional theatrical storytelling. There’s no stage; as an audience member you’ll see a story unfold at the very party you’re at. You’ll wander through the story, watching Shakespeare’s traditional tale of four lovers lost in the forest as it happens in real time - or real life.

No! This performance is primarily immersive, not interactive. You may be approached by a stray faerie or two but much like a pesky insect, if you ignore them they’ll go away. The other exception is our final scene - the classic “play-within-a-play” Pyramus & Thisbe - which audience members can alter by bidding on certain actions & outcomes.

Not at all! We have plenty of other things happening if Shakespeare isn’t your thing: get something to drink at the bar, enter the raffle, bid on something neat at the auction, watch a circus performance, meet some cool people, show off a pretty costume, enjoy the beautiful scenery...yeah, there’s a lot.

Nope. In fact, here’s a quick summary of the story: Hermia loves Lysander, but is set to be wed to Demitrius. Helena is Hermia’s best friend, and is in love with Demitrius. All four lovers run off to the forest, where a cheeky faerie named Puck gives Lysander a love potion...and he falls in love with Helena. Oberon, the King of the Faeries, and his majestic and fierce queen, Titania, are already fighting, and Bottom gets (accidentally) added to the mix. Shenanigans ensue as this tangled mess of a love story plays out!

Prizes will be announced very soon :)
